Ineke Tulp, Portrait Painter

Excerpt from the booklet printed on the occasion of graduating the Art Academy

Five years of AKI, the art academy -- what next?

People say that this is when it really begins -- we'll see. Painting is an art and a craft, and quite difficult, at that. A painting is never exactly the way you want, it can endlessly be improved. All the time, I search for the perfect combination of colour, shape and pleasing lines. When I finally arrive at this point, I have a moment of rest and peace. When starting a painting, I usually have a rough idea what it should look like. While painting, the work takes on the desired shape, often influenced by my moods. I am not a writer; painting is my only passion. Maybe painting is my way of writing ...

Ineke Tulp

During the nineteen sixties, Ineke Tulp followed an introductory course in painting at the Royal Academy of Art and Design in 's Hertogenbosch. Later, she studied at the AKI, the Academy of Art and Design in Enschede, where she graduated in 1996.
